How to Maintain Your Swimming Pool

Owning a swimming pool is a matter of great pride. You can splash and swim in the water whatever way you please, when you please, and that too while enjoying the privacy and comfort of your own home. However, if you are not consistent and conscientious when it comes to maintenance, the fun can easily turn into disaster. For one, swimming pool restoration is exceedingly expensive. Besides, a poorly maintained pool can cause numerous health hazards.

The good news is that it is not unusually difficult to maintain your pool during your swimming season. All you need to do is establish a cleaning routine. One part of this is making sure that your pool’s circulation system is in perfect order. This is imperative to good hygiene. Also, if you use your pool a lot, it should be sanitized every week with either bromine or chlorine. There are different ways to do the sanitization, and you can opt for whatever suits you best.

Additionally, during your season, you will need to ‘oxidize’ your water every couple of weeks. The oxidization process cleans your pool water off all waste and debris that inevitably accumulates with regular use, including cosmetic residues, dead skin cells, dirt and urine traces. For hygiene, you should also skim and vacuum your water every week. Finally, make sure that you keep changing your filters periodically according to your dealer’s recommendation, and take a water sample back to him/her every month to check if your water has the right pH balance.

This was all for in-season maintenance. It is also important to inspect your pool thoroughly once before you start using it for the season. Check all the equipment for loose fittings, rust and cracks. Also check if your pool’s O rings are in perfect working order. If you see anything even slightly damaged, get it replaced before it causes an accident. If you are careful, rest assured you will have a wonderful swimming season!

You no longer have to spend hours finding info about inground pools.
